Overview

Roundcube lets you set your preferred timezone so that message timestamps and calendar events display in your local time. This guide applies to Roundcube 1.4+ and later versions.

Steps to Change the Timezone

  1. Log in to your Roundcube webmail account.
  2. Click the Settings icon (gear) in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. In the left-hand panel, expand Preferences and select User Interface.
  4. Locate the Timezone dropdown menu.
  5. Select your desired timezone from the list. Timezones are listed by region (e.g., Africa/Johannesburg, America/New_York, Europe/London).
  6. Click the Save button to apply your changes.

Important Notes

  • Roundcube uses IANA timezone identifiers (also known as "Olson" or "tz database" names).
  • Changing the timezone only affects how times are displayed in your Roundcube interface — it does not alter the original timestamp of your emails.
  • Daylight Saving Time (DST) adjustments are handled automatically when you select a region-based timezone.
  • If you leave the timezone set to Automatic, Roundcube will attempt to detect your timezone from your browser settings.

Troubleshooting

  • My timezone is not listed: Choose the nearest major city in your timezone region. IANA timezone names are city-based and cover all standard time offsets.
  • Timestamps still appear incorrect: Ensure your browser is not overriding the setting. Try setting a specific timezone instead of Automatic, then log out and log back in.
  • Setting does not appear: Your hosting provider may have restricted this preference in Roundcube. Contact support for assistance.
