Overview

You can export your Roundcube contacts as a vCard (.vcf) file. This is useful for backing up your address book or migrating to another email client.

Supported Export Formats

  • vCard.vcf (universally compatible with email clients and mobile devices)

Steps to Export Contacts

  1. Log in to your Roundcube webmail account.
  2. Click Address Book in the top navigation menu.
  3. In the left panel, select the address book you want to export (e.g., Personal Addresses or Collected Addresses).
  4. To export specific contacts only, hold Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or Cmd (Mac) and click to select them. To export all contacts, skip this step.
  5. In the toolbar, click the Export icon (usually a downward arrow pointing to a document).
  6. Your browser will download a .vcf file containing the selected contacts.

Important Notes

  • The exported .vcf file can be imported into most email clients including Gmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, and Apple Mail.
  • If no contacts are selected, Roundcube exports the entire address book by default.
  • Group/contact list memberships may not be preserved in the exported vCard depending on the version.

Troubleshooting

  • Download does not start: Check that your browser is not blocking pop-ups or downloads from the webmail domain.
  • Exported file is empty: Ensure you have contacts in the selected address book. Try selecting the Personal Addresses book specifically.
  • Some contacts are missing: If you have contacts in multiple address books, repeat the export for each book separately.
