Roundcube webmail supports multiple languages for its interface. If your webmail is displaying in a language you do not understand, or you simply prefer a different language, you can change it in a few clicks. This setting only affects the Roundcube interface — it does not change the language of your emails.
How to Change the Language
- Log in to Roundcube Webmail.
- Click the Settings icon (gear ⚙️) in the top-right corner.
- In the left sidebar, click Preferences.
- Click User Interface.
- Find the Language dropdown and select your preferred language.
- Click Save at the bottom.
- The interface will reload immediately in the selected language.
Important Notes
- The available languages depend on what your hosting provider has installed. Most providers include English, Afrikaans, Portuguese, French, and Spanish.
- If your preferred language is not in the list, contact support to request it.
- The language setting is stored in your browser and Roundcube user preferences. Clearing browser data may reset it.
- You can change the language at any time without losing emails or settings.
Troubleshooting
- Language not saving after clicking Save: Clear your browser cache and cookies for the webmail domain, then try again. Some ad blockers or privacy extensions prevent Roundcube from saving preferences.
- Interface shows the old language after refresh: Log out of Roundcube completely, clear your browser cache, and log back in. If the issue persists, try a different browser or an incognito/private window.
- My language is not in the list: The language pack is not installed on your server. Submit a support ticket and specify which language you need — we can install additional language packs.
- Interface partially translated: Some language packs are not 100% complete. The missing translations will fall back to English. This is normal and not an error.
- Settings page is blank or not loading: Your browser may be blocking JavaScript. Disable any script-blocking extensions or try a different browser.
