A Parked Domain (also known as an alias domain) allows you to point an additional domain name to your main website. Visitors who type the parked domain in their browser will see the same content as your primary domain.
This guide walks you through creating a parked domain in cPanel.
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
Log in to your cPanel account using your credentials.
Step 2: Open the Parked Domains tool
Navigate to Domains → Parked Domains.
Step 3: Enter the domain name
In the Create a New Parked Domain section, type the domain name you want to park (e.g., myotherdomain.com).
Step 4: Add the domain
Click Add Domain. The parked domain will be created and begin serving the same content as your primary domain.
Important Notes
- The parked domain must be registered and its nameservers must point to your hosting account before it will work.
- Nameserver propagation can take up to 24–48 hours after changing DNS settings.
- Parked domains do not have their own email accounts or separate website content. Use an Addon Domain if you need a fully independent site.
- Your hosting plan may have a limit on the number of parked domains allowed.
Troubleshooting
- Parked domain not loading? Verify that the domain's nameservers are correctly pointed to your hosting provider. Use WhatsMyDNS to check nameserver propagation.
- "Domain is already configured" error? The domain may already be set up as an addon domain, subdomain, or redirect. Remove the existing configuration first.
- SSL not working on parked domain? You may need to install an SSL certificate for the parked domain. Check with your hosting provider about AutoSSL coverage.
