If Roundcube webmail is not available when your users try to access email through their browser, it may have been disabled in WHM. You can re-enable it through the Tweak Settings interface. Disabling Roundcube does not delete any emails or settings — it simply hides it from the webmail login screen.

Steps to Enable Roundcube in WHM

  1. Log in to WHM as the root user.
  2. Navigate to Home » Service Configuration » Tweak Settings.
  3. Click the Mail tab at the top.
  4. Scroll down to the Webmail section.
  5. Find the Roundcube option and ensure it is toggled On.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Verify Roundcube Is Working

  1. Log in to any cPanel account on the server.
  2. Navigate to Email → Email Accounts.
  3. Click Check Email next to any email account.
  4. Confirm that Roundcube appears as an available webmail client in the selection screen.

Important Notes

  • You must be logged in as root or a reseller with the correct privileges to access Tweak Settings.
  • Disabling Roundcube does not delete emails, contacts, or settings. All data remains intact and reappears when re-enabled.
  • If you disable Roundcube, users will still see Horde (if enabled) or whichever other webmail clients are active.
  • This is a server-wide setting — it affects all cPanel accounts on the server.

Troubleshooting

  • Roundcube option is missing from Tweak Settings: The Roundcube package may not be installed. Run /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp --force from SSH to reinstall cPanel packages including Roundcube.
  • Roundcube not appearing after enabling: Clear your browser cache and try again. Also verify that the Dovecot mail server and Exim services are running in WHM → Service Configuration → Service Manager.
  • "Page not found" or 404 error after selecting Roundcube: The Apache proxy configuration for webmail may be broken. Restart Apache from WHM → Restart Services → HTTP Server (Apache) or run httpd restart via SSH.
  • Only want to disable Roundcube for one account, not the whole server: WHM Tweak Settings is server-wide. To disable per account, use cPanel → Packages → Feature Manager to create a package without webmail access, then assign it to the account.
  • Users report slow performance after re-enabling: This is usually temporary. If it persists, check server resource usage in WHM → Server Status.
