The Default maximum email quota for new packages setting in WHM controls the maximum email storage limit assigned to newly created hosting packages. This setting applies when the package creator (such as a reseller) does not have the Create Packages with Unlimited Features ACL privilege. It ensures that resellers cannot create packages with excessively large email quotas.

Step 1: Log in to WHM

Open your browser and navigate to your server's WHM login page (typically https://your-server-ip:2087 or https://hostname:2087). Log in with your root or reseller credentials.

Step 2: Open Tweak Settings

In the WHM sidebar, navigate to Home » Server Configuration » Tweak Settings.

Step 3: Navigate to the Packages Section

Click on the Packages tab (or use the search box to type "email quota"). Locate the Default maximum email quota for new packages setting.

Step 4: Set the Quota Value

Enter the desired value in Megabytes (MB). For example, enter 1024 for 1 GB or 5120 for 5 GB.

  • Maximum allowed value: 4,294,967,296 MB (approximately 4 TB)
  • Default value: 1024 MB (1 GB)
  • Minimum value: No minimum (you can enter 0)

Step 5: Save the Setting

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. The change takes effect immediately for all new packages created after this point.

Important Notes

  • Existing packages are not affected: This setting only applies to packages created after you change the value. Existing packages retain their current email quota limits.
  • Resellers with unlimited ACL: If a reseller has the Create Packages with Unlimited Features privilege, this default does not apply to them — they can still set unlimited email quotas.
  • Reseller ACL controls: To manage reseller privileges, go to Home » Resellers » Edit Reseller Nameservers and Privileges.
  • Related settings: The Packages tab in Tweak Settings also includes Default disk usage quota and Default bandwidth limit for new packages.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot find the setting: Use the search box at the top of Tweak Settings and type "email quota". Make sure you are on the Packages tab.
  • Resellers can still set unlimited quotas: Check the reseller's ACL privileges and revoke the "Create Packages with Unlimited Features" privilege if needed.
  • New packages still show old quota: Clear your browser cache and refresh the WHM page. If the issue persists, verify the setting was saved successfully.
