The Default disk usage quota for new packages setting in WHM lets you define a default disk space limit that will be automatically applied when creating new hosting packages. This is especially useful for resellers who do not have the Create Packages with Unlimited Disk Usage ACL privilege — it ensures every new package has a sensible disk limit pre-filled.
How to Set the Default Disk Usage Quota
Step 1: Log in to WHM as the root user.
Step 2: Navigate to Home » Server Configuration » Tweak Settings.
Step 3: Click on the Packages tab at the top of the page.
Step 4: Locate the Default disk usage quota for new packages setting.
Step 5: Enter your desired value in MB (megabytes). For example:
1024= 1 GB10240= 10 GB (the default)51200= 50 GB
Step 6: Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Important Notes
- This value only serves as the default when creating new packages — you can still manually override it on individual packages.
- The maximum value is 4,294,967,296 MB (approximately 4 TB).
- This setting specifically affects resellers who lack the "Create Packages with Unlimited Disk Usage" ACL privilege.
- To manage reseller ACL privileges, go to WHM » Resellers » Edit Reseller Nameservers and Privileges.
- The same Tweak Settings page also contains defaults for maximum email quota and bandwidth limit for new packages.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot find the setting? Use the search bar at the top of Tweak Settings and type "disk usage quota". Make sure you are on the Packages tab.
- New packages still show "Unlimited"? The package creator (e.g., a reseller) may have the unlimited disk usage ACL privilege, which overrides this default.
- Need to update an existing package? This setting only affects newly created packages. To change an existing package's quota, go to WHM » Packages » Edit a Package.
