WHM can send Out of Memory (OOM) warnings via email when processes on the server run out of sufficient memory. While these alerts are useful for identifying resource issues, they can generate a large volume of email if your server frequently encounters memory pressure. You can disable these warnings through Tweak Settings if you prefer to manage memory monitoring through other tools.

Step 1: Log in to WHM

Open your browser and navigate to https://your-server-ip:2087. Enter your root credentials to access the WHM dashboard.

Step 2: Navigate to Tweak Settings

In the left-hand sidebar, go to Home » Server Configuration » Tweak Settings.

Step 3: Find the OOM Warning Setting

Use the search bar at the top of the Tweak Settings page and type memory. Look for the setting named Out of memory warnings, located in the Notifications tab.

Step 4: Disable the Setting

Toggle the switch from On to Off.

Step 5: Save Changes

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. The change takes effect immediately.

Important Notes

  • Disabling OOM warnings means you will no longer receive email notifications when processes run out of memory.
  • Memory issues will still occur on the server — you simply will not be notified about them through WHM.
  • This is generally not recommended on production servers, as OOM warnings help you identify resource problems before they cause downtime or data corruption.
  • Consider using external monitoring tools (such as server monitoring services or custom scripts) instead of disabling the alerts entirely.
  • This is a server-wide setting that affects OOM warnings for all accounts.

Troubleshooting

  • Still receiving OOM emails after disabling: Allow a few minutes for the setting to propagate. If emails persist, verify the setting was saved correctly. You can also run /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt via SSH to refresh the cPanel license and configuration.
  • Cannot find the option: Use the search/filter bar at the top of Tweak Settings and search for memory. The setting is in the Notifications tab.
  • Want to re-enable later: Follow the same steps and toggle the switch back to On, then save.
