WHM can send automatic warnings to cPanel users when their disk usage approaches or exceeds their quota limit. While these notifications help users manage their storage, some administrators prefer to disable them to reduce inbox noise or rely on alternative monitoring methods.

Step 1: Log in to WHM

Navigate to https://your-server-ip:2087 and log in with your root credentials.

Step 2: Open Tweak Settings

In the left-hand sidebar, go to Server Configuration ยป Tweak Settings.

Step 3: Locate the Disk Quota Warning Setting

Use the search bar at the top of the Tweak Settings page and type quota to quickly locate the option. Alternatively, browse to the Notifications tab.

Look for the setting named Disk quota usage warnings.

Step 4: Disable the Warnings

Toggle the setting to Off. When disabled, WHM will no longer send automatic email notifications to cPanel users about their disk quota usage.

Step 5: Save Changes

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to apply the change.

Important Notes

  • Disabling these warnings means users will not be proactively notified when they are nearing or exceeding their disk quota, which could lead to unexpected account suspensions or service disruptions.
  • This setting affects all cPanel accounts on the server. It cannot be configured on a per-account basis through this interface.
  • Consider using an external monitoring solution if you disable these warnings, so you can still track disk usage across accounts.
  • The settings in Tweak Settings are stored in /var/cpanel/cpanel.config. It is recommended to use the WHM interface rather than editing this file directly.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot find the setting: Ensure you are on a current version of cPanel and WHM. The search bar in Tweak Settings (introduced in newer versions) makes locating options much easier.
  • Users still receiving warnings: Clear the cPanel task queue by running /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp to ensure the configuration change has propagated. Also check that the notifications are not coming from a third-party plugin or custom script.
