Setting strong password policies helps protect customer accounts from unauthorized access. Plesk lets you configure password requirements at the service plan level.

Configuring Password Policies

  1. Log in to Plesk.
  2. Go to Tools & SettingsSecurity Policy.
  3. Configure the password settings:
    • Minimum password length: Set a minimum (e.g., 8 characters).
    • Password strength: Set a minimum strength level (e.g., Strong).
    • Password complexity: Require uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters.
  4. Click OK to save.

Important Notes

  • Password policies apply to new passwords and password changes.
  • Stronger policies improve security but may frustrate customers who prefer simple passwords.
  • Communicate password requirements to your customers.

Troubleshooting

"Security Policy" option is not visible:

  • Your hosting provider manages security policies at the server level. Contact support.

Customer cannot set a password that meets requirements:

  • Suggest using the password generator in Plesk.
  • Consider relaxing requirements if customers frequently report issues.
