Creating customer accounts is the first step to onboarding new hosting clients. Each customer gets their own Plesk login and a subscription that defines their resources. This guide covers creating customer accounts and subscriptions.
Creating a Customer with a Subscription
- Log in to Plesk with your reseller credentials.
- Go to Customers.
- Click Add a Customer.
- Fill in the customer details:
- Contact name: The customer full name.
- Email: Their email address.
- Company: Optional company name.
- Username: The Plesk login username for the customer.
- Password: Set a strong password (or click Generate).
- Under Subscription:
- Domain name: The domain to associate with this subscription.
- Login: System username for FTP/SSH access to the website.
- Password: System password for the subscription.
- Service plan: Select the hosting plan for this customer.
- Add-on plans: Optionally select additional add-on plans.
- Ensure Create subscription for the customer is checked.
- Click OK.
- The customer account and subscription are now created. The customer can log in at
https://yourdomain.com:8443.
Creating a Customer Without a Subscription
If you want to create the customer account first and add a subscription later:
- Go to Customers → Add a Customer.
- Fill in the contact details and login credentials.
- Clear the Create subscription for the customer checkbox.
- Click OK.
Note: Customers without subscriptions cannot log in to Plesk.
Important Notes
- Always assign a service plan when creating a subscription — this defines the resources and permissions the customer receives.
- The subscription domain must be registered and pointed to the server DNS.
- Send the customer their login URL, username, and password securely after account creation.
Troubleshooting
"Cannot create subscription — resource limit reached":
- You have exhausted your reseller resources. Contact your hosting provider to upgrade.
Customer cannot log in:
- Ensure the customer has at least one active subscription.
- Verify the login credentials are correct.
